A suspected drug peddler was killed and two others were injured in separate incidents of reported gunfights in Narail, Rajshahi and Lalmonirhat yesterday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the government was formulating an anti-narcotics law keeping a provision of death penalty for the patrons of drug traders, drug syndicates and the godfathers.

Despite receiving flak for over 100 alleged drug dealers killed during the war on drugs of police, the law enforcers say the drive they started on May 18 would continue past Eid, but they would tread carefully.

Two suspected drug peddlers have been killed in two reported gunfights in Chandpur and Mymensingh districts amid nationwide ongoing anti-drug drives.
