Apple is speeding up plans to shift iPhone production from China to India, aiming to make most iPhones sold in the US in Indian factories by late 2026, according to a recent report by Reuters. The move comes as Apple tries to avoid possible higher US tariffs on Chinese-made goods, a source told Reuters.

Apple has transported approximately 1.5 million iPhones from India to the United States via chartered cargo flights in recent months, according to a recent Reuters report. The tech giant's logistical push comes as it seeks to avoid steep tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Chinese imports, with India offering a more favourable trade alternative.

Apple is set to manufacture its most premium upcoming iPhone models, the yet-to-be-announced iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, in India for the first time this year, as per a recent report by Bloomberg News.

Earlier today, Apple's CEO Tim Cook inaugurated the tech giant's first retail store in India. Named Apple BKC, the store is situated in the bustling city of Mumbai's Jio World Drive at the Bandra Kurla Complex.
