President Mohammed Shahabuddin today left Dhaka for Jakarta, Indonesia to attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit and 18th East Asia Summit to be held on September 5-7

This year's Asean Summit ended on November 15 with the commitment to forge cooperation for peace, security and development. Asean and other world leaders attending the summit also pledged to boost business, investment and trade.

Malaysian authorities say already tight security has been increased at and near the venue of the ASEAN summit following a reported, but unconfirmed, terrorist threat.
