Battery-run rickshaw drivers yesterday clashed with pedal rickshaw-pullers while protesting a ban on their vehicles in Banani.

Immediate action is needed to establish and enforce operating guidelines for both pedal and battery-powered rickshaws.

"We may move the petition before the chamber judge of the Appellate Division today or tomorrow," the deputy attorney general said

Govt should consider both the safety of passengers and the livelihood of drivers, as well as the needs of this city

They took to the streets a day after the High Court directed government authorities to take necessary steps to stop the plying of battery-run rickshaws and auto-rickshaws on the capital's streets within three days.

Traffic constables said they no longer stop anyone because they want to avoid the hassles they faced before and after August 5.
