The government has started the process to execute the Supreme Court verdict that upheld the death penalty of Retd Captain Abdul Majed for killing father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members on August 15, 1975.

Abdul Majed -- the convicted killer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members -- who was arrested today, can now file a petition with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court through jail authorities seeking exemption from the Bangabandhu murder case.

Captain Abdul Majed, convicted killer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj -- hours after he was arrested in Dhaka today.
