Bangabandhu did not encourage a military conflict, nor did he push the country to the brink of war in his speech.

People of Bangladesh know very well the intrinsic value of the historic speech delivered by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib on March 7, 1971. A country of the South and its leadership in the struggle for national emancipation has too often been presented through the prism of the North, the power base of most things on earth.

To celebrate the Unesco’s recognition of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic March 7 speech, the government employees will hold a joy rally in the city. Owing to the rally, set to start at Suhrawardy Uddyan from 12noon, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police issued a map of the roads where vehicular movement will be controlled and are best avoided this afternoon.

Noting that the appeal of the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu is the unfading one, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urges the young generation to listen to it repeatedly to draw inspirations from it to build themselves as worthy citizens.

Bangabandhu's fiery speech of March 7, 1971, is one of the most inspirational speeches related to independence of a country.
