The amount of foreign airlines’ money stuck in Bangladesh has increased to $323 million from $214 million in less than a year, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Despite having a fleet of 21 modern aeroplanes, the largest in its history, Biman has spread its wings to just three new destinations in the last five years.

Alleged anomalies in Biman’s recent recruitment of pilots have stirred resentment as well as concerns over flight safety among the pilots of the airline.
