Bangladesh does not need funds from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if it can mobilise enough domestic resources, said Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, as he stressed that the country requires the right policies rather than “begging for foreign funds”.

"The country’s financial position is strong. The only weak area is the revenue budget, and the solution lies in improving revenue generation," he said.

The BB governor took the charge at the 46th Saarc Finance Governors' Group Meeting held in Washington on October 24

He will serve for four years, according to a notification issued by the Financial Institutions Division of the finance ministry.
