The power struggle within the Film Artistes' Association had been simmering long before the political upheaval. Since the controversial 2022-24 election, the battle for the general secretary’s chair has been a symbol of division. Zayed Khan initially won the position, narrowly defeating Nipun Akter by 13 votes.

National Award Winning actor and President of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association, Ilias Kanchan has shunned the recently resigned joint general secretary and actor Symon Sadik’s claim of the organisation’s ineffectiveness in cessation of simultaneous releases of foreign with Bengali films in a recent remark.

Earlier, the memberships of Sucharita and Rubel were temporarily suspended by the association.

The actor also remarked that asking for a percentage of the profit is wrong, calling it unethical to do. Dipjol raised the question of why the Film Artistes Association has chosen to help film artistes from the percentage earned from Hindi films rather than any other way.

The Supreme Court today directed actors Zayed Khan and Nipun Akhter to strictly follow its chamber judge's order over holding office of general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes' Association (BFAA).
