Bangladesh climbed two places to 73rd in the world democracy index with a score of 5.99, while India were in joint 46th spot with a score of 7.04 and Norway topped the list with a score of 9.81.

Bangladesh advances eight notches on the latest Democracy Index 2019 of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the research and analysis division of The Economist Group.
