Google is celebrating the 121st birthday of Bangladesh’s National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with a doodle.

The 43rd death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam has been observed in a befitting manner.

To Mark the 120th birth anniversary of our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Chhayanaut, one of the leading cultural organisations in the country, organised a celebration programme titled, Nazrul Jayanti 1426 at its Ramesh Chandra Datta Smriti Milankendra in Dhanmondi of the capital yesterday morning.

Today marks the 120th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. He produced a large body of poetry and music with themes that included religious devotion and rebellion against oppression. Nazrul’s activism for political and social justice earned him the title of ‘Bidrohi Kobi’ (Rebel Poet).

For the first time in his illustrious career, Bappa Mazumder recorded a Nazrul Sangeet, titled Meghero Damru, on the occasion of Nazrul Jayanti.
