Second Submarine Cable: Disruption to inland link delays launch

Bangladesh is being deprived of the benefits of its second undersea cable connection, established at a cost of Tk 660 crore, because of the authority's failure to establish an uninterrupted inland link.

Bandwidth export starts Dec 1

Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Ltd (BSCCL) will start exporting bandwidth – 10 gigabits per second – to Indian state of Tripura form December 1.

Move to sell bandwidth at 65.6 times lower rate

The government has approved a deal to sell a chunk of unused bandwidth to an Italian company at a price 65.6 times lower than the market rate. It was done without proper bidding or offering local players an option to buy it.

Bandwidth price reduced by 43%

Wholesale prices of internet bandwidth will come down by up to 43 percent to discourage imports from India and also dispose of its huge amount of unused bandwidth from September 1.
