The telecom regulator directs all the internet service providers to incorporate one time password for the free Wifi hotspots across the country for listing the users’ identification on security ground.

Internet subscription in Bangladesh crossed six crore milestone last month with mobile connections dominating more than 90 percent of it, the telecom authority says. By March-end, the number of active internet connection stood at 6 crore 12 lakh.

Mobile phone users, who would fail to re-register their numbers by November 15, will have their numbers blocked, the telecom division says.

The number of mobile phone internet users now stands at 5.07 crore, BTRC says with data compiled until August.
