Bangladesh Television (BTV), the country’s national broadcaster, celebrates its diamond jubilee today, marking 60 years since its inception. The BTV family has planned a series of festive events to commemorate the milestone, starting with a cake-cutting ceremony at midnight on December 24.

In a recent televised interview, actress Dilruba Hossain Doyel revealed that she, along with several other cast and crew members, has not been compensated for their work in the film “Chandrabati Kotha”, which was released in 2021. 

"I was banned for a full seven years due to my political identity. Although it may seem irrelevant, the Covid pandemic taught me a lot. I realised that one can survive with fewer possessions. Excessive food and luxuries are unnecessary, and true peace comes from standing closely with people in need," shared Kanak Chapa.

Asif Akbar, one of the most popular singers in Bangladesh, had been unofficially blacklisted by Bangladesh Betar (Radio) and Bangladesh Television (BTV) for 18 long years.
