Odisha has finally applied for a Geographical Indication (GI) for its own version of a beloved sweetmeat called “Odishara Rasagola” (Rasagola of Odisha).

West Bengal wins a two-and-a-half-year-old battle over the origin of one of India’s signature sweets “Rosogolla”. India's Geographical Indications (GI) Registry announced that Rosogolla’s originating place is Bengal, not the neighbouring state Odisha.
