Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selector Hannan Sarker said he wanted the Tigers to channel in the good memories from their Test series triumph in Pakistan and forget the bad ones from the India tour earlier this month as the hosts gear up for a two-Test series against South Africa, starting on October 21.

The 61-year-old Trinidadian has signed a deal with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that will see him in charge until the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.

Despite all the speculations, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to arrive in the country tomorrow, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source confirmed to The Daily Star today. 

Amid all the speculation regarding Shakib Al Hasan’s last Test in Mirpur, the selection panel included the all-rounder for the Mirpur Test which is set to be his final match in the format. Shakib is set to arrive in Dhaka tomorrow. 

Although none of the allegations against Hathurusingha are neither based on recent incident and nor directly linked to the Tigers’ on-field performance, Faruque claimed that their stern decision was based on re-assessing the reports given by a three-member special committee -- formed on November 29 last year -- tasked with scrutinising the underperformance of the Tigers in the mega event held in India.

In his first tenure, Hathurusingha in a way made up for his rigid attitude with bold tactics. But this time, the boldness was missing. The once sharp tactician had turned into a meek coach, trying to do the bare minimum to safeguard his job.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Faruque Ahmed has made a meal manoeuvring the removal of national team head coach Chandika Hathursingha.
