The US has issued a worldwide travel alert for its citizens in response to "increased terrorist threats".

Terror alert led restaurants and bars to shut early amid fears of a Paris-style attack in Central Brussels. The manhunt continues for the fugitive Salah Abdeslam, who is thought to be armed with a suicide belt.

Ayoub El Khazzani is said to have told investigators he is "dumbfounded" by accusations he was intending to carry out a terror attack, and insists he was only trying to rob passengers.
