 Bernardo Silva could miss Manchester City's next few games after injuring himself in their Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade, manager Pep Guardiola said on Friday, as the midfielder joins a long list of players sidelined.

Silva, who signed a one-year extension last month which will keep him at City until 2026, was forced off before halftime of City's 3-1 home win over Red Star Belgrade in their Champions League opener on Tuesday.

Silva had been linked with a transfer window move from the Etihad Stadium, with Spanish giants Barcelona long reported to be interested in the 29-year-old.

"It's a beautiful night for us. We knew it was going to be tough. But to beat this Madrid team 4-0 at home, it was wonderful," the Portuguese midfielder said.

City moved two points behind league-leaders Arsenal, who host Bournemouth later in the day
