The Bangladeshi film “Agantuk” has officially been selected as the closing film of the five-day Toronto Multicultural Film Festival, which begins in Canada today (August 24). The film, directed by Biplob Sarkar, carries the English title “The Stranger”.

The Asian Project Market (APM), a key segment of the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, plays a vital role in connecting filmmakers with renowned producers, co-producers, and distributors from across the globe. Offering financial and technical support, the APM has grown into one of Asia’s largest film markets, drawing significant interest from emerging filmmakers.

The Dhaka International Film Festival is returning for its 23rd edition, scheduled to run over nine days from January 11 to January 19 next year.

The Bangladeshi film "Agantuk" (The Stranger) has been chosen to screen at the 15th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) in Australia. Directed by Biplob Sarkar, the film is a collaborative effort with co-producers Rammya Rahim Choudhury, Tazul Haque and himself. This esteemed festival, taking place from August 15 to 25, will showcase the freshest films from across the subcontinent.

On Thursday, Biplob Sarkar’s Bangladeshi feature-film, “Agantuk” (The Stranger) was named the winner of the Prasad DI award, by the Film Bazaar Recommends jury in Goa, India for the ‘Viewing Room’ section. The Viewing Room is a special component within Film Bazaar, that highlights films from India and South Asia, that are are complete or in the post-production process. Usually, these are the films that are in search of film festivals, sales, distribution partners, funding and so on.
