A pick-up van driver was dead and at least six people were injured in a collision between two ferries – Begum Rokeya and Sufia Kamal – on Shimulia-Majhikandi route in the river Padma in Shariatpur’s Jajira upazila early today.

Paturia ghat in Manikganj is witnessing a huge crowd today as thousands of people leaving Dhaka through launches and ferries to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their loved ones.

The government has decided that movement of vehicles carrying goods will remain suspended for 10 days before and after Eid-ul-Fitr on Dhaka-Paturia and Dhaka-Archiah highways and Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat river routes.
