In follow-up of the agitation over rape of a girl in Bogra, a group of left-leaning organisations allege that such incidents are rising in Bangladesh due to a prevailing culture of impunity.

Amid a firestorm of public outrage over the abduction and rape of a Bogra student and the subsequent torture to keep her quiet, Sramik League leader Tufan Sarkar, the main accused, and his two cohorts were placed on a three-day remand yesterday.
