The production has been lauded for its compelling portrayal of Khona's defiance against patriarchal norms and her quest for equality.​

In response to the rising wave of violence against women and environmental destruction across Bangladesh, Bangladesh Tree Protection Movement and BotTala are coming together to organize a cultural protest under the banner “Resist Violence Against Women and Nature.”

Theatre troupe BotTala is celebrating its 16th anniversary, marking over a decade of contributions to Bangladesh's theatre scene. Since its debut on August 27, 2008, BotTala has staged numerous acclaimed productions, including “Crutcher Kornel”, “Shokhi Rongomala”, “Khona”, “Rise and Shine”, “Soho Te Marx”, “Bannyatherium”, and “Jatugriha”.

For many years now, BotTala has been a popular performance space. They will soon be staging a new show, after six years, titled “Shokhi Rongomala”, which will be directed by Mohammad Ali Haider.

Theatre troupe BotTala will travel to three cities in India with their much-acclaimed production “Khona”, says a press release.
