Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) is set to buy 440 new buses, including 100 electric buses for the first time in the country, to enhance and upgrade its services in Dhaka, Chattogram and different inter-district routes.

Workers and drivers of BRTC bus depot at Joar Sahara call off their strike on an assurance by the authorities that their arrears will be paid in full by August this year.

Anger and frustration among workers of BRTC depots have long been growing over their unpaid salaries, which remain due for up to 16 months in some cases.
