Curtain falls on the sixth National Sculpture Exhibition
The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy initiated its efforts to encourage and foster the practice of sculpture in 1982 by organising the first sculpture exhibition. This year marked the sixth edition of the national-level sculpture exhibition, showcasing 178 artworks by 159 artists across various categories. A total of 13 awards, including 10 honorary ones, were presented during this year’s event.

Revolutionary art meets technology at BSA’s ‘Poster e July Obbhutthan’
“Ek dofa, ek dabi”, “Bloody July in Bangladesh”, and “Shob Shabhabik”— each poster boldly bearing these statements against the fascist regime, painted exclusively in red, yellow, and black — were the striking artworks by Debashish Chakrabarty during the height of the July Uprising.

Syed Jamil Ahmed appointed as Shilpakala DG
It is to be noted that following the recent downfall of the former government following the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Liaquat Ali Lucky, who served as the Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) for over a decade, stepped down from his position on August 12.

‘Krishnakumari’ staged at Tejgaon College
Tejgaon College's Theater and Media Studies Department has already gained popularity with this play, as its second production. The directors have said that the next showing of this play will take place on the stage of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy very soon.

Mamunur Rashid’s birthday festivities to run for 3 days
Mamunur Rashid played a significant role in the post-independence stage movement in Bangladesh. Some of his notable stage dramas include “Ora Kodom Ali”, “Gandharva Nagari”, “Che'r Cycle”, “Sankranti”, “Rarang”, “Target Platoon”, “Iblish”, and more. He has also written numerous dramas for television. Mamunur Rashid continues to act regularly in stage, television, and film productions.

BSA organises 2-day tribute on SM Sultan's death anniversary
A total of forty paintings by world-renowned artists are being displayed at the National Art Gallery. Additionally, paintings by various artists from the country have also been included in the exhibition. The exhibition will run from October 9 to 17.

A weekend of conversation, art and feminism
The festival included four exhibitions, namely Made in Bangladesh by Prachyanat, Voices of Bangladesh by iCan Foundation, Moheshkhali Exhibition by University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and Hum Studio Interactive, and Auyoni: Beyond Sexuality by Ayreen Khan which were displayed at Gallery 1 of the BSA.
