The total cost of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project is Tk 1,14,225 crore, with the majority financed by Russia.

The government has to spend about 40 percent of the next budget on subsidies, interest payments, and salaries and allowances of government employees, which will limit its ability to spend on social safety net, health and education.

About 22 percent of the respondents placed top priority on decent jobs, 17.5 percent on quality education and 12 percent on social protection, said the associated report.
