Launch and speedboat movement on 12 routes from Barishal river port has been suspended due to heavy rains and gusty wind caused by cyclone "Sitrang" formed over the east-central Bay.

Some 1,010 shelter centres are ready in three coastal districts -- Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira -- to face the impacts of Cyclone Sitrang.

The cyclone will hit 730 kilometre-long coastal areas in 19 districts of the country with three to five feet high tidal surges, State Minister for Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman has said.
