A woman has given birth to a child amid heavy gridlock on Dhaka-Tangail Highway. She was travelling with her husband, Habib Hossain, on a bus from Gazipur to Kurigram to spend this Eid with their dear ones, reports our Tangail correspondent.

Eid holidaymakers, who have been suffering in long tailbacks on the Dhaka-Tangail since this morning, allegedly torched a car of an executive magistrate on the road in Kalihati upazila of Tangail this noon.

Long tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway persists through morning, mounting woes on the holidaymakers during the ongoing Eid journey. Last reported, the tailback reached 20 kilometres after a collision between a bus and a truck on Bangabandhu bridge link road in the wee hours.

Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in a gridlock on Dhaka-Tangail highway for seven hours causing immense suffering to people.
