Ignoring the Revised Strategic Transport Plan, government agencies on their own initiated eight major projects in and around the capital. The projects could end up on the chopping block and the money already spent could be written off.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, also at the helm of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority, yesterday admitted the government agencies implementing transport sector projects in the capital lacked coordination.

The government is going to formulate a new law to regulate bus service using the franchise system, which is expected to bring discipline in Dhaka’s public transport sector.

Amid huge parking space crisis, Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) has approved 64 parking spots in the city.
