On the occasion of International Mother's Day, two of Bangladesh’s most beloved screen mothers, Dilara Zaman and Dolly Zahur, are being remembered not just for the roles they’ve played, but for the love they continue to receive from their on-screen children. Though their biological children live abroad, both actresses have chosen to remain in Bangladesh, enveloped by the affection of the audiences and colleagues who fondly call them "Ma."

Renowned for her exceptional talent, Sharmili Ahmed captivated audiences with her performances in countless plays and acclaimed films. Notably, she starred in the country's first-ever serial drama and left an indelible mark with her role in the film "Abirbhab", which features the song "Sathti Ronger Majhe".

Recently, this veteran actress was honoured with the prestigious Ekushey Padak 2024, the second-highest civilian award in Bangladesh. In celebration of this momentous occasion, Dolly Zahur graciously shared her reflections, and future aspirations with The Daily Star, along with some cherished personal anecdotes.

Through a cultural programme with music, recitation, and dance, the event will pay tribute to the deceased artistes who have made huge contributions to the cultural arena. They are poet Asad Chowdhury, and singers Fakhir Alamgir, and Bulbul Mahalanobish.

The drama, named “Ami Humayun Ahmed hote chai,” is written by Razia Sultana Jenny, and renowned artistes like Dolly Zahur, Jonaed Bukdadi, Riya, Sarker Apu, Roshan, Roshni, and Salahuddin Lavlu himself are featured in it.  The TV drama is scheduled to be aired at 9:30 PM, November 13, on Channel i.
