Shakib Khan's “Dorod” will be released in India on February 28, three months after its Bangladesh premiere.

Although the film has debuted in over 20 countries, including the USA, Thailand, and Canada, its much-anticipated Indian release continues to face delays.

Shakib Khan’s latest film, “Dorod”, which premiered on November 15, is set for an international release. Directed by Anonno Mamun, the movie will open in 18 cinemas across Malaysia on December 6.  

Jashore’s Monihar Cinema Hall, one of Bangladesh's most iconic theatres, made headlines last week with its sudden removal of Shakib Khan’s highly anticipated film “Dorod”. Just a day after its premiere last Friday, the romantic psycho-thriller was pulled to make way for Shihab Shaheen's romantic drama “Chuye Dile Mon”.

The screening was attended by an array of stars, including Puja Chery, Siam Ahmed, Prarthana Fardin Dighi, Orchita Sporshia, Samonty Shoumi, and Rukaiya Jahan Chamak, alongside director Anonno Mamun.

Critics argue that this tactic has allowed Shakib to dominate the box office during Eid holidays in recent years. However, the question, “Just how strong is Shakib’s market appeal outside Eid?” has been raised repeatedly — and “Dorod” has found itself facing that very test.

Superstar Shakib Khan is set to watch the film “Dorod” in theatres. In a special gesture, the Remark-Herlan family, for whom the actor serves as a brand ambassador, has reportedly purchased all the tickets for three cinema halls to create an unforgettable experience.

The highly anticipated film “Dorod”, featuring Dhallywood’s leading star Shakib Khan, is scheduled to hit theatres this Friday (November 15). 

According to director Anonno Mamun, “Dorod” is a romantic psychological thriller that casts Shakib Khan in a refreshing new role. The film is unique as the first pan-India production of its genre, with a runtime of 149 minutes. It is set to debut simultaneously around the globe, introducing audiences to a gripping narrative.

Jashore's Monihar Cinema Hall, a popular name among movie lovers and one of the country's iconic theatres is undergoing modernisation. The hall, which has a seating capacity of over a thousand, is being renovated and will be rebranded as Monihar Cineplex.

In a recent media interview, Shakib faced tough questions about the delicate relationship between India and Bangladesh and offered his perspective on the matter.

The film industry continues to face significant challenges as most cinemas remain closed, and the few that have reopened are struggling due to a lack of new releases. Filmmakers are hesitant to debut their projects in this climate, forcing theatre owners to rely on screening older films. 

Anonno Mamun's pan-Indian film "Dorod" has officially set its release date for September 6, hitting cinema screens across Bangladesh and India.

"There will be new surprises during the two-month-long promotional campaign of 'Dorod'. A first major event involving Shakibians (Shakib’s fans) will be organised. During this event, the specific release date of 'Dorod' as a pan-Indian film will be announced," he added.

Over the past few years, films starring Shakib Khan have consistently dominated the box office post-release. All things considered, local audiences have undoubtedly and eagerly been embracing this leading star's films.

Over the past two years, no film featuring Shakib Khan has premiered outside the Eid season. This pattern has sparked criticism, with many speculating that Shakib avoids non-Eid releases out of fear of box office failure. True to form, Shakib Khan's latest movie, "Toofan”, is set to release this Eid-ul-Azha.

In the poster, Shakib, who is most popular for his romantic persona on screen, has taken an infuriated, maddening and psychotic look in the Anonno Mamun directorial psychological thriller, enthralling audiences from Bangladesh and India.

Giasuddin Selim’s “Kajol Rekha” was scheduled to be released on February 2 and “Dorod” was going to be released on February 9. However, the respective directorial panels delayed the release dates.

Experiencing the overwhelming love and admiration of the fans, Shakib Khan sang the famous song “O Priyotoma” from his blockbuster film, “Priyotoma”. He also performed on several songs from the movie with his co-star, Idhika.

Shakib returned to Dhaka on Friday after participating in the film’s shoot for 20 days, which began on October 27. As soon as he landed, The Daily Star caught up with the star in a candid conversation, where he shared about his experience, new project and more.
