Dhaka University’s (DU) senate members are stunned over a circular issued by the education ministry that announced temporary appointment of Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman as acting vice-chancellor of the university.

Dhaka University senators nominate three-member panel including the incumbent Vice-Chancellor (VC) AAMS Arefin Siddique for appointment of its new VC. Two others are incumbent treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin and former Awami League-backed Blue panel convener Prof Abdul Aziz.
