Spinner Dunith Wellalage took 5-27 as Sri Lanka clinched a first ODI series victory over India in 27 years with a 110-run thrashing of the tourists in the third match on Wednesday.

Late cameos by Kamindu Mendis and Dunith Wellalage lifted Sri Lanka to 240-9 after India's spinners struck regular blows in the second one-day international on Sunday.

Both aged 20, fast bowler Pathirana and all-rounder Wellalage are undeterred by facing childhood heroes at the tournament that opens on October 5
