Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage has made himself available for selection for today’s Asia Cup T20 Super Four clash against Bangladesh, just a day after the tragic passing of his father.

As it was such a personal and sensitive matter, the Sri Lankan team requested that no one ask questions about the tragedy.

Right after Sri Lanka completed a six-wicket win over Afghanistan in their final Group B match of the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, their all-rounder Dunith Wellalage received the heartbreaking news of his father’s demise in Colombo.

Spinner Dunith Wellalage took 5-27 as Sri Lanka clinched a first ODI series victory over India in 27 years with a 110-run thrashing of the tourists in the third match on Wednesday.

Late cameos by Kamindu Mendis and Dunith Wellalage lifted Sri Lanka to 240-9 after India's spinners struck regular blows in the second one-day international on Sunday.
