Amid the box‑office success, reports emerged that an HD copy of “Taandob” had been leaked on YouTube and other platforms. In response, the production company adopted a hard line. The producer, Shahriar Shakil, filed a complaint with the police seeking legal action under copyright legislation, and detectives have now arrested three suspects in connection with the piracy. At around 11:45 am today (Wednesday), Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) Joint Commissioner Nasirul Islam confirmed the arrests to Prothom Alo.

For anyone who grew up “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, “Utshob” is a warm wave of nostalgia. For those raised in 1990s Bangladesh -- whether or not they’re familiar with Dickens -- the film offers a loving nod to the dramas and films of that era. And even for viewers with no emotional ties to either Dickens or the 90s, this film still feels like a two-hour-long hug, a very warm one.

“I would describe ‘Utshob’ as an independent commercial film,” he explained, “because I faced quite a struggle finding producers for it. I’m deeply grateful to my wife Shormila Akter, director and producer Shakeeb Fahad, and, last but not least, Chorki, who believed in me and stood by me throughout the journey.”

Regarding her experience working with Shakib Khan, Jaya shared, “Shakib Khan is a major star in our industry. I must say, he’s doing exceptionally well. In its opening week, “Jongli” will screen in 5 theatres across Canada, 28 in the United States, and 7 in the United Kingdom. In the UK, the release is a joint presentation by Swapno Scarecrow and Reverie Films.

Providing an insight into the film, he shared, “’Daagi’ is the story of Nishan and Jarin’s love and separation. At the same time, it is also a tale of regret and repentance for these two characters. From the teaser and romantic songs that have been released, I believe the audience has already sensed this.”

Directed by Mehdi Hasan Hridoy, the film also stars Idhika Paul, Jisshu Sengupta, Misha Sawdagar, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Intekhab Dinar, and Mamunur Rashid in pivotal roles.

Speaking about his character in the project, Rashed Mamun Apu shared, “I play a journalist from a small town who is also a TikToker. He works for a little-known online news portal. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this character as well.”
