Today marks the death anniversary of legendary Bangladeshi actor Farooque, a beloved figure in the golden era of Dhaka cinema. Renowned for his roles in social dramas, Farooque became a household name through films that resonated deeply with rural and urban audiences alike. Though he played romantic and liberation war heroes, it was the social narratives that elevated him to iconic status.

In 2023, the entertainment industry witnessed the unfortunate demise of several luminaries. While they may no longer remain with us, their legacies endure through their creative works. Their remarkable contributions will continue to resonate in the domains of film, television dramas, dance, and music.

He had immense love and respect for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which is why he would never celebrate his birthday, as August is the month of mourning.

“I like that people call these ‘the golden-day’ cinemas. I have been a part of those cinemas, have offered what I could to bring those to life”.

The actor was brought to the BFDC premises today at 1 pm, where he was swarmed by admirers and well-wishers.

Legendary actor, Freedom Fighter and Member of Parliament, Farooque has finally returned to his beloved country after 803 days. Sadly, prior to his return, he was engaged in a prolonged battle with an illness that began on March 4, 2021, which ultimately led to his untimely demise.

Farooque's on-screen chemistry with Babita was legendary, with their pairing becoming synonymous with some of the most iconic films in Bangladesh's cinematic history like “Noyon Moni”, “Lathiyal”, “Golapi Ekhon Traine”. 

Legendary actor and Member of Parliament, Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooque) passed away earlier today. Actress Rozina, who worked alongside him in many of his films, expressed her disbelief at his passing and recalled their memorable collaborations in many successful films.
