In a significant digital clampdown, the Instagram accounts of popular Pakistani artistes Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan have been blocked in India. The restriction, which went into effect yesterday, comes in the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 26 people dead.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has called for a total ban on Pakistani artistes from working in India, following the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 civilian lives. The attack has further heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

Khan will take on a starring role in the newsroom thriller “Behind the Scenes”, a dark comedy produced by Modoxy Media and Film Lab++. The project unites notable filmmakers Mehreen Jabbar (“Jackson Heights”), Sarmad Khoosat (“Joyland”), and Mo Naqvi (“Insha'Allah Democracy”).

The yet-untitled international project will feature Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor in a romantic-comedy film.

“Barzakh” follows the poignant journey of a 76-year-old reclusive man who invites his estranged children and grandchildren to his remote valley resort to celebrate an extraordinary and unconventional event—his wedding with the ghost of his first true love.
