Former Belgium coach Domenico Tedesco has replaced Jose Mourinho as manager of Turkish outfit Fenerbahce on a two-year contract, the Istanbul club said Tuesday.

Former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho hit an unwanted milestone after his latest sacking from Fenerbahce, with severance payouts across his career now topping €100 million.

The former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United manager took charge of Fenerbahce in July 2024 after leaving AS Roma.

Former Germany, Real Madrid and Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, who retired in 2023, was elected Sunday to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) party of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the party announced.

Manchester United were drawn Friday to play Real Sociedad of Spain in the last 16 of this season's Europa League, while Rangers will take on Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce, and Tottenham Hotspur face AZ Alkmaar.

Manchester United will travel to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, now coached by Jose Mourinho, among their eight games in the league phase of the new-look Europa League, the draw for which took place in Monaco on Friday.

The club's last league title dates back to 2014.

"Good evening Fenerbahce fans, see you tomorrow at Kadikoy (the Istanbul suburb where the club is based) and let's start our journey together," Mourinho announced.

Fenerbahce walked off the field after three minutes of the rescheduled Turkish Supercup against Galatasaray on Sunday as a protest against alleged unfair treatment.

The Turkish Super Cup final between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce scheduled to be played in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh on Friday was postponed over what the clubs described as "some problems" in the event's organisation.

The 37-year-old, who played in Inter's Champions League final defeat by Manchester City earlier this month, has signed a two-year deal with the Istanbul-based club.

Mesut Ozil is leaving Fenerbahce after the former Germany international fell out with the Turkish side's management.
