Iconic ‘90s actress Shabnur, one of Dhallywood's most beloved stars, celebrates her 46th birthday today. Known for her immense talent and versatility, she remains an inspiration to many of today’s actresses.  

She made her acting debut with the film “Ayna”, directed by noted actress and filmmaker Kabori Sarwar. The film, released in 2006, marks a landmark project for the actress to date. She shared memories of working on the movie with The Daily Star.

Ferdous clinched victory in the 12th parliamentary election this year with a significant number of votes.

Besides directing it, Chhatku Ahmed is also in charge of writing the script and dialogues of the film. Although the cast has not officially signed the agreement yet, the director informed the media that he plans to begin the shoot in March.

In a momentous event held at BFDC today, actor Ferdous Ahmed, renowned for his contribution to Bangladeshi cinema, was honoured by the country's film and artist society. This recognition comes after the actor announced his participation in the upcoming national parliamentary election from the Dhaka-10 constituency.

Celebrated literary figure Humayun Ahmed was deeply loved by millions of readers during his lifetime. As an author, he gained immense popularity by creating characters like Himu, Rupa, and Misir Ali, through which he earned countless devoted fans. The craze for Himu is still visible in today’s generation, as fans still wear yellow panjabi—a signature dress worn by the character.

More often than not, Moushumi is the actress who has been referred to as the most beautiful film heroine. Her ascension to stardom began with “Keyamot Theke Keyamot”, and she hasn’t had to look back since. Hridi Huq's directorial film, "1971 Shei Shob Din", based on the story written by her father, Dr Enamul Haque, was released on August 18. It has been running successfully for four weeks now.

Under the initiative of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata arranged the 3-day film festival at the historic Nandan-1 and 2 cinema hall from July 29 to 31.

Popular Dhallywood actors Ferdous and Purnima are in Kolkata today to attend the much-anticipated 5th Bangladesh Film Festival Kolkata. 

This year's Anondo Mela will feature several musical and dance performances which are sure to entertain the audience. 

Recently, renowned actor Ferdous collected nomination papers for the Dhaka-17 seat. He confirmed the news to The Daily Star.

Ferdous is the hero the well-known film, “Hothat Brishti”. Even now, it is quite clear how busy his film schedule is. Currently, three of his films are awaiting release.

He also dubbed Farooque ‘the rural protagonist’ for his portrayal of such characters as well as his popularity, which spread to every corner of the country.

In 1998, the release of Bangladesh- India joint venture film, "Hotath Bristi" changed the career trajectory for Dhallywood actor Ferdous. The film made him a superstar overnight, and garnered immense praise from the audience. 

Recently, Ferdous visited the legendary singer Nachiketa Chakraborty at his house, and both of them reminisced about their first work together which was "Hothat Brishti". The film will be completing its 25 years this Eid, and a book will be written on its immense popularity in both Bangladesh and Kolkata.  

According to Ferdous, in this age of the internet, we cannot stop anyone from watching foreign films. “The world is moving forward and we also have to move forward,” he said, “Any work is better through competition. When subcontinental movies come, we will also get a chance to compete.”
