Five fishing trawlers capsized at different points of the Bay of Bengal from noon to evening this evening adjacent to Kuakata in Patuakhali today (August 19, 2022).

Perennial poverty have lately forced hundreds of fishermen to sail their vessels into the Bay of Bengal for deep sea fishing, ignoring a government ban.

At least 92 fishermen are missing for the last three days in the Bay of Bengal after seven fishing trawlers reportedly capsized during a storm on July 21.

At least 67 fishermen are missing as five trawlers capsize in the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata in Patuakhali and five others in Barguna.
