Teesta river continues to swell due to the incessant rains and onrush hilly water

The death toll from floods in the country rose to 131 with two more deaths in Lalmonirhat district in 24 hours till this morning (July 26, 2022).

The people living around Dharla River shoal in Lalmonirhat district are now having to face another onslaught of floods as the river water is flowing above the danger level as of today (June 30, 2022).

Flood situation has worsened in Manikganj while in Kurigram flood water has been flowing above the danger level.

Cattle rearing in flood-affected areas of Lalmonirhat has been severely affected due to lack of green fodder owing to rising floodwaters in Teesta and Dharla rivers for the last one week.

The sudden decrease in water flow at Teesta and Dharala basins triggered serious river erosion in many areas of Kurigram and Lalmonirhat districts.

Around 60,000 people have been marooned in Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari as the two districts were hit by sudden flood caused by heavy downpour and the onrush of water from upstream for the last two days.
