In the last 11 months, four foreign airline companies have halted their operations at Chattogram airport, leaving only two still operating

Even though Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport now deals with twice the number of passengers it used to 10 years ago, local carriers have been losing market share.  

The government is losing revenue as the tickets are being sold abroad

Many foreign airlines serving Bangladesh are not selling tickets to local travel agencies as they cannot take back most of their earnings from ticket sales due to the dollar crisis in the country.

At least 12 foreign airlines are seeking permission to operate flights to and from Dhaka airport which will see the full opening of a third terminal next year.

Yet another foreign airline is going to shut its operation in Bangladesh.
