BNP has demanded that the government cancel its recent decision to hike price of gas by 22.78 percent.

Bangladesh’s energy regulator has decided to increase gas price by 22.78 percent for all users, on average.

Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (Berc) will announce the new gas tariff at the consumer level tomorrow (June 5, 2022).

A Supreme Court (SC) lawyer has filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking stay on the government’s decision of hiking the gas price.

Households have to pay Tk 175 more for gas from this month, as the energy regulator yes-terday raised tariff for all users, saying the move would help the government bear the expenses of importing liquefied natural gas.
