The government is planning to introduce the school feeding programme for students of all state-run primary schools in July with the hope that it will help increase attendance and reduce dropouts.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossen has told the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the government is considering introduction of one-shift at primary schools across the country by increasing sufficient classrooms.

It's a sorry picture, and it represents the state of thousands of government primary schools in the country.

The much-hyped elevation of primary education up to class-VIII is not going to happen anytime soon.
