The Green Line Paribahan yesterday handed Tk 5 lakh to Russel Sarkar who lost his left leg after a bus of the company ran him over in April last year.

Bangladesh Bus Owners Association filed a writ petition with the Supreme Court seeking a stay on a High Court order that asked Green Line Paribahan to compensate Tk 50 lakh to Russell Sarker, who lost his left leg after a bus of the Green Line Paribahan ran over him on April last year.

The High Court yesterday directed Green Line Paribahan not to sell tickets for Thursday, saying that it would order confiscation of the company's buses for an auction if it failed to pay a compensation of Tk 50 lakh to Russell Sarker by Wednesday.
