Saudi Arabia has increased the number of hajj quota for Bangladesh – 2,415 more Bangladeshis will be able to perform hajj this year.

The Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (Haab) criticises the civil aviation ministry's proposal to increase airfare for each Hajj pilgrim by Tk 12,000 this year, terming the proposal “illogical and immoral”.

An aspirant pilgrim will have to spend a minimum of Tk 345,800 to perform hajj this year under private management, around Tk 13,000 more than the previous year.

Aspiring pilgrims will have to pay an additional sum of Tk 16,000 to undertake Hajj pilgrimage under private management this year, private Hajj agencies say.
