Amid widespread criticism over the exorbitant cost of hajj packages this year, the religious affairs ministry today said there is no scope for the government to reduce the cost

The High Court today said this year's hajj package is inhuman as its cost is so high.

In Bangladesh, the cost of hajj package under the government and private hajj management is about Tk 7 lakh. But the actual cost will exceed Tk 8 to Tk 8.5 lakh when the cost of sacrificial animal, food and other miscellaneous costs are included.

The Bangladesh Bank yesterday asked banks to take measures to transfer the funds related to the expenditures of aspirant Hajj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.

To perform hajj under government management this year, pilgrims will have to spend at least Tk 4,62,150, about Tk 1 lakh more than it cost in 2020.
