“I only get Tk 3000 as allowance per month apart from accommodation and food in the national camp. They are giving me an additional Tk 2000 as house rent since I got married… There is no future playing for the national team,” Bangladesh’s star archer Ruman Sana said to The Daily Star in March last year, explaining why he no longer wants to play for the national team.

Rubel has spearheaded the national team in the recurve bow event since the suspension of Ruman Sana in late 2022.

Bangladesh archer Hakim Ahmed Rubel exited from the pre-quarterfinals of the Men’s Recurve Individual in World Archery Championships in Berlin on Thursday after suffering a defeat against fourth-seed Kim De Deok of South Korea.

Bangladesh grabbed the bronze medal in the men’s recurve team event of the Archery Asia Cup World Ranking Tournament, Stage-3, in Singapore today.

Archer Hakim Ahmed Rubel became ninth in the qualification round of the Recurve individual event of the Archery World Cup Stage-1 in Antalya, Turkey on Wednesday.
