"Scoop" is based on Jigna Vora's book "Behind Bars In Byculla" and tells the narrative of intrepid crime writer Jagruti Vora (played by Karishma Tanna). When a journalist colleague was murdered by the Chhota Rajan gang in 2011, Jagruti's inquiry quickly led to her detention and unjust accusation.

Directors Hansal Metha Anurag Kashyap recognise Kangana Ranaut's skills as an actress. Meanwhile, the actress agreed with them and dubbed herself the "greatest of all time", or GOAT.
