While we have been hearing about the relocation of tanneries from Hazaribagh area to Savar for more than a decade, nothing major has happened on either side.

Relocation process of all tanneries from the capital’s Hajaribagh to the designated tannery estate in Savar will be completed by this year, industries minister tells the parliament.

The High Court today directs the industries secretary to submit before it in three weeks the list containing names and addresses of the businessmen who are still running tannery industries in Hazaribagh area of Dhaka.
