Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat stated that being the first Bangladesh umpire to make the cut in ICC's Elite Panel of umpires "is a matter of great honour".

Currently an umpire of ICC's Emerging Umpire Panel, Saikat will be the first Bangladeshi to officiate in Men's ODI World Cup.

He was rated as one of the best umpires in world cricket and for his brilliance on the field former Pakistani umpire Asad Rouf was even included in the ICC’s Elite Panel as well.
