India came into the clash riding high after a 295-run victory at the first Test in Perth.

While Australia have an obvious advantage head-to-head, having won 83 games to 56 losses, India’s recent form makes things even. They won the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka last month and then went on to beat Australia 2-1 at home. 

India, who lead the four-Test series 2-1, were bundled out for 109 and 169 on a rank turner at Indore's Holkar Cricket Stadium where 30 wickets fell in the first two days of the low-scoring contest
